This thriving group of, mostly, non-experts, covers many aspects of history and includes talks and visits to places of interest in our area.
We encourage the contributions , large or small, of the group members.
Topics have ranged over Roman, South American, Medieval, 20th Century, military, social and industrial history. We have lived in historic times and so Oral History plays a good part.
New members are always welcome.

Alan Crosby. The diaries of Benjamin Shaw. Alan will be talking about his work on the diaries of Benjamin Shaw who paints a picture of family life in the Industrial Revolution.
April 9th 2025
Visit to Smithills Hall, Bolton. Smithills is one of the oldest and best preserved manor houses in the North West of England. Originally a Medieval Hall it has additions from the Tudor and Victorian periods.
